The church, dedicated to the Descent of the Holy Spirit, is unique not only in Moldavia but in all of Romania and even the entire Orthodox world, due to its unusual proportions (42 meters in height and only 9 meters in width), which give the impression of a ship—the ancient symbol of the Christian Church. Slender, monumental, and austere, the church stands out with its twisted rope belt motif, found both on the exterior and interior, and with the lace-like stonework of the tower, which features over 1,000 vegetal, floral, and geometric motifs of Caucasian origin.
